What we do
The Djeuce is an independent entertainment and tech publication based in Harare, Zimbabwe. We cover music, film, gaming, technology, sport and internet culture, and we keep a running calendar of what's on around the country, from gigs and comedy nights to markets, fairs and matches.
Our aim is simple: give Zimbabwean context to what's happening at home and around the world. We'd rather celebrate what gets overlooked than pile on, and we try to keep a constructive tone even when the news is bad.
Where we came from
The site started life as a hip hop blog called The Juice, run by Elliot Twist. In 2017 it became The Djeuce and widened its brief to everything happening online and in Zimbabwean culture. Along the way it launched Soul Pick, our music review series, Did You Know?, which digs up the Zimbabwean connections behind people and places you already know, and the My 2 Cents interview podcast.
In September 2026 we rebuilt the site from the ground up and relaunched with a daily publishing schedule, a full events calendar and a new set of series, including Game On for gaming and esports, and the monthly In Motion round-ups of new Zimbabwean music, film and art.
Who writes it
Rufaro edits The Djeuce and writes most of what you read here, across news, tech, features and Did You Know?.
Elliot Twist is our co-founder. He hosts My 2 Cents, covers gaming, anime and comics for us, and is one of the lead voices in the animated series Body Count.
Over the years other contributors have written for the site too, and their names stay on their pieces.
How we work
Every article lists its sources, we aim for three to five per story, and nothing goes live until a person on the team has checked its facts, quotes, names, dates and images. We use AI tools to help research and draft, and we say so. The full detail is on our editorial standards page, including how to report a correction.
Event listings are written from organisers' own flyers and announcements. We only list an event once its date is clear, and we update the page if an event is changed or postponed.
